Coconut Bay Continues Donations to St. Jude Hospital and Signs a New Memorandum of Understanding

Continuing its support for St. Jude’s Hospital, Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa yesterday signed an extension to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Hospital to November 2017. Under this agreement, first formalized in 2013, St. Jude Hospital — and in particular the Pediatric Ward — receives material and monetary donations generated on their behalf through the resort’s philanthropic activities including “CocoLand Cares” and the weekly ‘Charity Rubber Duck Race.’
Mr. Mark Adams, CEO of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa, explained the rationale behind the special relationship with St. Jude Hospital. “St. Jude Hospital provides vital services to residents in the south of the island, including many of our staff members and their families,” said Mr. Adams.  “We are gratified to be able to support their efforts in a meaningful way, especially the Pediatric Ward and staff as they strive to provide the best possible care to their young patients.”
Yesterday’s cheque, presented during the weekly Manager’s Cocktail at Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa, brings contributions to St. Jude to over EC $50,000. The resort’s other initiatives include providing  hospitality training to the hospital’s management staff and donations of linens, blankets as well as toys and gifts during the Christmas season.
During his remarks at the signing and presentation ceremony yesterday, which was held on resort at Coconut Bay, Dr. Chierry Poyotte, CEO of St. Jude Hospital commented: “We at St Jude Hospital feel a special sense of gratitude and responsibility to the guest and management of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. We are extremely thankful for this continuing show of support from Coconut Bay and their kind assistance to the children of Saint Lucia”.
