SLHTA mourns the passing of Chef Peter Lawrence

Saint Lucia’s culinary community has lost a respected member with the passing of Chef Peter Lawrence.

Chef Lawrence’s passion for the culinary arts spanned more than three decades, with seafood being a particular area of expertise.

In 2014, he represented the Saint Lucia National Culinary Team in the Seafood Competition at TASTE of the Caribbean, capturing a Gold Medal and the overall winner’s title. He returned to TASTE in 2016, earning a Bronze Medal in the Seafood Competition.

Chef Lawrence was also committed to nurturing the next generation of culinary talent, serving as a coach under the Association’s Chefs in Schools programme. Through the programme, he shared his knowledge, skills and experience with young aspiring chefs, helping to shape their development and encouraging their passion for the culinary arts.

The Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) is grateful for Chef Lawrence’s contribution to Saint Lucia’s culinary sector and for the knowledge he shared throughout his career. His dedication to the culinary arts and his efforts to help develop young chefs will be remembered.

The SLHTA joins his family, friends and colleagues in mourning his passing.
