Trinidad and Tobago concludes another successful showing at IMEX America

PORT-OF-SPAIN, TRINIDAD – October 27, 2014. Trinidad and Tobago, in its continued drive as the Southern Caribbean’s Meetings and Conferences Capital, made its second appearance at the recently concluded IMEX America, the premier worldwide exhibition for Meetings, Events, and Incentive Travel.
This year’s participation followed a successful debut at last year’s show. Over the three day event which hosted over 12,000 buyers, the Trinidad and Tobago team, which included a representative from the Hyatt Regency Trinidad held a series of one-on-one meetings with high level meeting planners regarding future conference opportunities for Trinidad & Tobago.
Arveon Mills, Sales Manager of the Trinidad and Tobago Convention Bureau which represented the destination at the exhibition, commented that, “Exhibitions of this nature are becoming increasingly important to destination Trinidad and Tobago as it provides the opportunity to generate leads for hosting meetings and conferences as well as building awareness of the Bureau and the complimentary services offered.”
Meeting planners who booked appointments at the Trinidad and Tobago booth did not leave empty-handed as they received packages containing flash drives with destination information as well as the recently launched Meeting Planners Guide. Planners were also treated to local items such as the world renowned Angostura Bitters and a sample of Cocobel chocolates.
According to the 2015 American Express Global Meetings and Events Forecast, “As 2015 approaches, the meetings and events industry appears to once again have a solid foundation with an increased focus on optimising spend and delivering results.” With thriving financial services and energy sectors, increasing airlift from international hubs, advancing technology and telecommunications, Trinidad and Tobago is well poised to compete in the lucrative Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) Market.
The Convention Bureau, a unit within the Tourism Development Company Limited provides both international and local meeting planners with unbiased advice on all aspects of hosting and organising MICE events in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a one- stop shop for independent information and assistance.
