Outstanding Team Member: Windjammer Landing’s Gezel Stephen

Meet Gezel Stephen, the recently appointed Sales and Marketing Manager at Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort.

She is from the vibrant and culturally rich community of La Fargue, Choiseul, and attended Choiseul Secondary School before completing an Associate’s Degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. Her education has been further supported by certifications in Brand Management (Cornell University), Digital Marketing, and Organizational Leadership.

Stephen’s professional journey began in telecommunications and media with roles at LIME Saint Lucia and KM2 Solutions. She transitioned into hospitality at Sunswept Resorts, where she served in roles ranging from Online Coordinator to Marketing Manager over a span of nine years. Her responsibilities included leading brand campaigns, managing digital strategies, and representing the brand at major trade shows in the United States and United Kingdom. She now serves as Sales and Marketing Manager at Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort, where she is focused on strengthening brand visibility and growing international market presence.

When asked why she chose hospitality, Stephen shared: “I chose hospitality because it is dynamic, people-centered, and purpose-driven. I love being part of an industry that allows me to shape memorable experiences for guests while proudly representing my island home. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities and that keeps me motivated and inspired.”

Why Sales & Marketing?

“I am 100% sure that Sales and Marketing was my calling,” she said. “Marketing gives me the creative space to tell stories that resonate while using strategy to drive results. Sales complements that perfectly by allowing me to build strong, lasting relationships with partners and clients. Together, they allow me to merge data, creativity, and connection — which I find both exciting and rewarding.”

Stephen described her participation in the SLHTA’s Young Leaders Development Programme as a game-changer in her professional development. “It provided mentorship, leadership exposure, and valuable insights into the broader tourism industry. The programme helped shape my perspective on innovation, resilience and service excellence – principles I now carry into my daily work.”

When she’s not working, she loves spending time with family, exploring local food spots and enjoying content related to leadership, branding, and self-development. She’s also a bit of an adventurer and enjoys activities like ATV rides, archery, jet skiing and ziplining.

Stephen encourages young people to: “Start where you are and make every opportunity count. Be open to feedback, seek mentorship, and stay consistent. Your journey doesn’t have to be perfect — just purposeful. Hard work, passion, and the right attitude will open doors you didn’t even know existed.”

The SLHTA wishes Gezel the very best in her new role!
