Earlier this month one of our friendliest bartenders, Lex Joseph, participated in the 
20th Annual Chairman’s Reserve Bartending Competition and snagged the Silver medal!
We’re extremely proud of Lex, as he held his own against 16 competitors from the best hotels, restaurants and bars in St. Lucia. The contest saw each mixologist presenting a panel of international judges with two their very own inspired beverage creations. They each had 10 minutes to prepare their drinks before a live audience – no pressure right? Points were awarded for ease of preparation, presentation and most importantly, taste.
Lex has been employed with the Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa for nearly a year now and his dynamic attitude and friendly disposition has made him a highly requested favourite of our guests. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s a talented bartender with years of experience in his field. Lex was eager to participate in this year’s competition to get some vindication for his last appearance in the same competition a few years ago where he was unable to capture a top spot.
His two award-winning drinks were Avocado Sensation and Papaya Fusion, each of which incorporated local fruits/vegetables that are normally not considered for use in cocktails. This kind of innovative thinking is what will continue to make Lex an even better bartender as he progresses in his career!

RONALD RAMJATTAN OF BARON FOODS KNIGHTED BY QUEEN ELIZABETH II

The Managing Director of Baron Foods Limited Ronald Ramjattan has been personally presented with the award of the Order of the British Empire [OBE] at Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Mr. Ramjattan received the award on October 9th.
Speaking to Kaieteur News Mr. Ramjattan, who is also the President of the St. Lucia Manufacturers Association said “it was indeed a humbling experience for meas a Guyanese coming from a normal background.” With unreserved modesty, he spoke of being an entrepreneur in Saint Lucia, his adopted home, for more than 24 years, and was elated to not only be recognized, but be auspiciously honoured by the Queen…READ MORE

BAY GARDENS RESORTS ACHIEVES GREEN GLOBE CERTIFICATION
Bay Gardens Resorts announced earlier this week that all three of its hotels (Bay Gardens Hotel, Bay Gardens Inn and the Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa) had achieved Green Globe certification.
Green Globe is the global certification for sustainable tourism. Travel and tourism businesses are rigorously assessed on their sustainability performance as an organization, along with their supply chain partners.

NEW NON-STOP JETBLUE FLIGHT INTO SAINT LUCIA TO BE CELEBRATED
In collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York has unveiled plans to honor the inaugural November 1, 2014 JetBlue Flight #363 from Boston’s Logan International Airport to the island’s Hewannora International Airport.
To celebrate the addition of this new non-stop flight to Saint Lucia, a commemorative flag-raising ceremony will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Boston’s City Hall.
