Happy 47th Anniversary of Independence!

The Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) joins with all Saint Lucians in celebrating the island’s 47th Anniversary of Independence.

This year’s theme, Douvan Ansanm – Nourishing Our People, Strengthening Our Nation, speaks directly to the role our people play in national progress. When we invest in the well-being, development and potential of our citizens, we strengthen the very foundation upon which a resilient and prosperous Saint Lucia is built.

Saint Lucia and her sons and daughters continue to make their mark. Among the many success stories of the past year, one achievement that stands out with particular pride for me is the nation’s Junior Surf Team competing for the first time at the World Junior Surfing Championships in Peru— a testament to youth potential, perseverance and support that enable our people to shine.  On the industry front, the tourism sector has continued to make meaningful strides, with the latest figures showing the island welcomed 37,691 stay-over visitors in January — the highest on record. And through our partnership with DeVry University, the SLHTA has worked to expand degree opportunities for Saint Lucia’s professionals, because a stronger workforce means a stronger nation.

As we celebrate, we do so against the backdrop of an evolving global landscape that presents real challenges for Saint Lucia and our neighboring sister islands. In times like these, unity, collaboration, and shared purpose are not simply ideals, they are necessities. By continuing to move forward together, we place ourselves in the strongest position to shape the future we envision.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association, I extend warmest wishes to all Saint Lucians for a safe, meaningful, and celebratory Independence.
