Young Chefs Showcase Skills at CCSS Cook-Off
The culinary skills of students at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School were on display on Friday, March 27th, 2026, during the Fabulous Fruit & Vibrant Veggie Cook-off.
The cook-off was held in observance of World Home Economics Day, celebrated this year under the theme “You Are What You Eat: Feeding the Future.” It featured six teams of two student chefs, each tasked with preparing a main course in two hours. In the days leading up to the competition, the students received training from industry professionals.
Kayla Asson and Haven Justin emerged as the winners of the competition. Placing second were Shernii Plummer and Miracle Julian, while third place went to Carrisa Willie and Karina Lambert.
The SLHTA is proud to provide cash prizes to the winning teams:
🥇 1st – $1,000
🥈 2nd – $750
🥉 3rd – $500
In addition, all 12 competitors will undertake a one-month internship at a hotel over the summer vacation.
All teams received training from industry professionals, including: Kayla Asson and Haven Justin (Sandals Halcyon), Shernii Plummer and Miracle Julian (Harbor Club), Carrisa Willie and Karina Lambert (Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa), Diana Gabrielle and Khyle Stanislas (BodyHoliday), Sheba Jn. Pierre and Trevon Corneille (Cap Maison), and Nubian Sylvester and Fana Dupree (StolenTime Saint Lucia).
Members of the National Culinary Team were also on hand, providing guidance and support to the students throughout the competition.
