SLHTA mourns the passing of Chef Refer Leonce

The Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Chef Refer Leonce.

Chef Leonce was a highly regarded figure in Saint Lucia’s culinary landscape and previously served as a member of the Saint Lucia National Culinary Team.

Over the course of his career, he earned several accolades, including a Silver Medal in the Senior Chef Competition at the 2015 Taste of the Caribbean and a Silver Medal in the Seafood Competition in 2014.

Beyond his achievements in the kitchen, Chef Leonce was deeply committed to mentorship and youth development. He dedicated countless hours to giving back, serving as a mentor under the SLHTA’s Chefs in Schools programme, where he visited various schools to share his knowledge, skills and passion for the culinary arts.

He also served as Head Coach for Saint Lucia’s team at the 2014 Caribbean Junior Dueling Challenge, guiding and shaping young culinary talent.

The Association will be forever grateful for Chef Leonce’s dedication, passion, and contribution to the development of the country’s culinary arts.
