Sandals Resorts Announces 50 New Jobs

Sandals Resorts International says it is preparing to hire an additional 50 employees as it gets set to open four additional restaurants at its Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Spa & Beach Resort.

Regional Director for Sandals Resorts International – Eastern Caribbean, Andre Dhanpaul, says the Caribbean Luxury Hotel chain is committed to creating opportunities for its host communities whilst providing even more elevated levels of luxury experiences for guests.

Sandals has injected EC$10M in the construction of three additional specialty restaurants on the island.

According to the Regional Director, the additional 50 will bring the number of employees at Sandals and its related companies to almost 1800 on the island.

“We will start the process of interviewing and training in preparation of the opening of the new restaurants in the coming weeks so that when they open later this year, we will be ready.

“We will be introducing a number of things for the first time such as the new Indian Bombay Club Restaurant in Saint Lucia,” the Director said.

He added that the move will demand a new approach from the kitchen and service team and training initiatives are underway to sensitize existing team members on what will be expected in operating these new additions.

Moreover, Dhanpaul says the project is gaining much traction in the international travel community as word of it in the international trade media has peaked the interest of travel professionals.

“This underscores the point that our millions of dollars in global marketing is not just about our resorts but it is about destinations like Saint Lucia,” the Sandals Regional Director said.

Earlier this month Sandals Resorts announced the construction of the new restaurants, which has resulted in the creation of some 40 direct and indirect construction jobs.

The four additional restaurants will bring the total number of restaurants available at the Sandals Saint Lucia stay-at-one play-at-three program to 25.

Sandals is one of the largest private sector employers in Saint Lucia and one of the leading earners of foreign exchange into the local economy.
