Saint Lucia Announces Top Performing Tour Operators at 2015 North American Showcase
The Saint Lucia Tourist Board reports a successful third annual Saint Lucia North American Showcase, held this year from July 30 through August 2 at the Johnson Centre in Rodney Bay, culminating in a rewards ceremony for top performing tour operators. Building on last year’s success, the Showcase attracted more than 25 international wholesale and tour operator representatives and 26 local hotel and DMC partners.
The three-day event brought together key tourism stakeholders from the United States, Canada, and Saint Lucia that included the Saint Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association, the Ministry of Tourism, tour operators, industry experts, and hoteliers. The North American showcase is an annual marketing event hosted by the Saint Lucia Tourist Board to connect tour operators from the US and Canadian Markets with owners and executives of tourism related services from Saint Lucia. Among its objectives is the forging of new business partnerships and building product knowledge among those who sell Saint Lucia through a destination exploration experience.
Five leading tour operators from the US and Canada were recognized during the Showcase for exceptional sales performance. Top awards went to:
- Classic Vacations (Canada) – Most Improved Sales Support From a Tour Operator
- Air Canada Vacations – Top Producing Canadian Tour Operator
- EXPEDIA – Top Producing Online Tour Operator
- Travel Impressions – Top Producing Traditional Tour Operator and Best Producing Tour Operator for Weddings and Honeymoons, a new award category for 2015
- BOOKING.COM – Fastest Growing Tour Operator
“Saint Lucia salutes our tour operators and partners for their continued hard work and dedication, as they are largely responsible for the record breaking tourism numbers the island has been experiencing” says Louis Lewis, director of tourism for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board. “Showcase gives Saint Lucia the opportunity to celebrate these combined successes and continue meaningful conversations that enhance our overall product.”
