This month TripAdvisor awarded Orlando’s Restaurant and Bar in Soufriere its much coveted “Certificate of Excellence” based on reviews from travelers who have visited the restaurant and highly rated the quality and standard of the food, ambience, service and many other factors.
Orlando’s which is just past two years old is owned and operated by Chef Orland Satchell one of the island’s Celebrity Chefs. He is an award winning Chef, picking up awards locally and internationally for his excellent cuisine.
Orlando has also cooked for greats such as Michael J. Fox, Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, former British prime minister, Sir John Major and Roger Lloyd-Pack.
Under his personal motto “Share the Love” that he has extended to his food and service to customers, training his staff to be personable and professional all at the same time, Orlando signature is his treatment of local foods and his commitment to use fresh ingredients, taking the phrase “from the garden to the table” as law.
“As my philosophy states I only use locally produced ingredients wherever possible, this not only benefits the guests who receive the freshest, healthiest food possible but it also benefits the local farmers and fishermen as well who I make a point to buy from, fresh from their gardens.”
Being awarded TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence for the second year running Orlando believes is testimony to the distinction of his work.
“This award is not just about the man Orlando, it is about the hard work and dedication of my staff both past and present as well as the local farmers and fishermen who have worked with me to improve the quality of their produce that allows me to present a high standard of food and excellence.
“Soufriere is St Lucia’s leading tourist destination with its rich history and of course the iconic Pitons; the restaurant and I, we are part of this community as a whole and so this award is a tribute to both Soufriere and I and helps draw attention to this beautiful town that I call my home. My ultimate dream is to see others in this community open their own restaurants in Soufriere and make this community a force to be reckoned with, with excellent food and fantastic attractions.”
