CARPHA Statement On Ebola Virus Disease Including Guidelines For Travelers
The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is responsible for preventing disease, promoting
and protecting health.  In light of the World Health Organization’s declaration of the West-African Outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and bearing in mind the reality of rapid international travel, CARPHA seeks to keep the Caribbean population abreast of the Ebola public health issue and of the mechanisms being put in place to address this issue.  At this time, CARPHA assesses that the likelihood of an Ebola case being imported to the Caribbean region is low. To date, there have been NO reported cases of EVD in the Caribbean region.  CARPHA is working closely with its regional and international partners, such as the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), CHTA, CTO, governments and health officials to strengthen capacity, including providing training, guidelines, updated information and technical support to Member States. CHTA Mourns The Loss of Warren Cohen, SVP, Unique Vacations Inc., Sandals Resorts International
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Warren Cohen, who served as senior vice president, tour operator marketing and sales for Unique Vacations Inc., an affiliate of the worldwide representatives of Sandals Resorts International. Warren had been battling cancer in recent months but continued to work throughout his illness. SRI Chairman, Gordon “Butch” Stewart said, “Warren represented Sandals and Beaches in the best way possible and did this throughout his illness, which is a testament not only to his spirit but to the people who supported him.” We send our condolences to his wife Christine, three adult children, Michael, Danny and Jamie, and his brother Stuart. The family is asking that, if people choose, donations to The American Cancer Society be made in Warren’s honor. For more, click here (Source: Travel Agent Central).
