44th Anniversary of Independence Message

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA), I wish all Saint Lucians at home and abroad a happy 44th Anniversary of Independence. The Helen of the West has come a long way since 1979 and we have much to celebrate on this special day.

Our sons and daughters continue to fly the flag high across the world in a multitude of disciplines including sports, business, education, literature and film. The island’s tourism industry has gone from strength to strength, establishing the country as one of the leading destinations in the Caribbean and the world.

The past few years have proven to us that we are a resilient people who can surmount daunting obstacles. As we celebrate another year as an independent nation, we must ensure that we take time to reflect and carefully map out our aspirations for our country. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, Staff, and Members of the SLHTA, I encourage us all to rally around this year’s theme ‘Douvan Ansanm: One People. Shaping Our Destiny’ as we look to continue building a nation we can all be proud of.
