Just your usual Island tour with a visiting old friend, who noticed, what we all have seen every year, Fruits just fallen from Trees spoiling on the ground. “Remember what we used to do with this” he said. Of course, he referred to “Schnapps” – or as it is also called, Eau De Vie or Fruit Brandy. The idea to utilize the local agricultural products and create a local production stuck and towards the end of 2015 a small Potstill was en route from Germany; small enough to run trials, large enough to produce quality spirits. Oddly enough the first trial that year was not even your typical fruit but Breadfruit, which was a surprising success. A few bottles of the first Breadfruit Eau de Vie were given to friends. Other fruits followed, Guava / Banana / Mango; with that came the challenges, trials and errors but also more ideas. The idea of “Caribbean Craft Distilling” became a reality…Visit their Facebook
